One element in planning a media project is to plan for distribution. Distribution should flow out of and be a part of the program’s goals and plans. All plans for distribution should be discussed with local stakeholders from the beginning of the planning stage. Planning for distribution from the beginning allows for local ownership of the project and product.

Some things to consider in media distribution planning are:

  • Who is the intended audience? What materials would be most effective for this audience?
  • How will the local context (language factors, community structure, etc.) influence how distribution is done?
  • Of the various choices we have for distribution, which will be the best?

Other considerations in distribution planning will be discussed in the videos that follow.
